Dialogue

The material for this work is photofragments of eleven of my paintings and a drawing by my artist husband. In this digital collage I use dialogue as a metaphor for human interaction with the main partner - life.

The small drawing on the wall symbolises the three-dimensional structure of the painting. The three dimensions — support, depth, and horizon — intersect and interact, reflecting the multi-layered and multi-meaningfulness of any interaction through a simple, everyday image.

Dialogue

Support. A part of the room's wall symbolizes inner support, where the three-dimensional figure is the body, the sprout is the heart, and the head is the mind. This is the core that holds the internal and in which the outer sprouts.

Depth. The interior, with the inner critic in the foreground, passes into the exterior with chairs and the outside environment, which at the very centre grows back with a bright sprout.

Horizon. Chairs as a symbol of human presence. The dialogue between two people takes place on the same line, at the same level. The portraits of the speakers dissolve and flow into the chairs. A downpour washes away the past, renews for the future. What has been said and understood flows, merges, and refreshes the soil from which the new creativity will grow.
